It is in French that Alfredo Reid-Ellis wrote his thesis of doctorate on the Iberian and Latin civilizations. A work of pointed research and years of documentation pertinent to this dissertation, well developed and perfectly illustrated, that opens us to a civilization, to a culture and a history full of passion. Whether it is about economy or sociology, politics or anthropology, Reid-Ellis masters each of his arguments and makes us share more that a reflection, with an enthusiasm and a pen that will make, without doubt, of his book a reference.
Résumé :
How can one explain movements of immigration? What can well push thousands of men and women to leave their city, their country, their families, to tempt a new adventure? The despair, the dream, money, the flight? And how are these immigrants welcomed? How do they influence the economy of the country who shelters them? In presenting the regions of the Caribbean and of Central America as a basis, Alfredo Reid-Ellis gives us details and explicits the different faces of migration. He puts in relief with dexterity its evolution through the years, but especially the own specificities of this region of the world.
